FOREST FORAGE
Throughout 2026 primary school age students across the City of Swan and Shire of Mundaring investigated this year’s theme, Forest Forage, exploring the selected areas of focus to share their ideas for the creation of healthy, local ecosystems.
AREAS OF FOCUS
Wildlife – Who eats who, or what, and when? How can we help all animals maintain access to their natural foods sources all year round?
Local Plants – How do local plants provide different food options across different seasons? Which animals do these plants support?
Safe water sources for animals – How can we look after our waterways, and help animals over the drier months?
The students investigated how plants and animals rely on one another to create a unique artwork promoting what we can all do in our local area to make a difference.
Close to 1200 students from 23 schools participated and all student artwork is now on show as an exhibition at the Midland Junction Arts Centre and available to view online 2026 GALLERY OF ENTRIES.
Selected winning creations will be transformed into public outcomes such as street banners for the Mundaring and Midland Town Centres, spreading student’s environmental messages within their communities.
