Crazy Critters and Terrific Tortoises in the October School Holidays

Midland Junction Arts Centre collaborated with the City of Swan to present a number of school holiday activities in October as part of their Nature Know-how series.

We joined Environmental Educator Cathy Levett in Guildford to learn about crazy critters, exploring outside the town halls we found a huge amount of tiny life. Attendees then started on an entry for the 2022 Environmental Art Project, drawing some of the creatures they’d seen. In Ballajura and Ellenbrook we joined author of children’s book Wally’s Way Home, Neeve Blackham-Jennings, who wrote and illustrated the book about the Western Swamp Tortoise when she was 15 years old. Neeve read the book to the audience before instructing on how to draw Wally and his friends.
